Windows Server 2008 R2
Benefits for Web Hosting Resellers
Now you can support PHP in the Windows Server 2008 R2 environment
Windows Server 2008 R2 brings the power of PHP to a Windows environment – enabling PHP apps to be hosted smoothly and effectively. It does this through use of FastCGI and IIS7.5.
FastCGI
FastCGI operates as an interface between IIS7.5 and PHP – with file change monitoring, real-time tuning and message tracing. It also speeds up process handling and builds reliability by re-using processes rather than shutting them down and opening them up again each time there is a request.
IIS7.5
There is built-in support for PHP in IIS7.5. IIS7.5 integrates new support and troubleshooting features, including configuration logging and a dedicated Best Practice Analyzer. It also integrates many of the more popular extensions for IIS, including updated versions of Secure FTP and WebDAV.
With IIS7.5, hosts can take control of the Web server footprint in order to increase security and decrease patching. They can also resolve faulty applications faster and release them to market more quickly. Support costs are reduced with simplified deployment and application configuration.
New technologies can be rapidly leveraged with IIS7.5's extensible framework. IIS7.5 is also managed more efficiently with the introduction of new management application programming interfaces (APIs), a powerful new user interface (UI), a suite of command-line tools, and the capability to manage IIS7.5 directly from Windows PowerShell 2.0™.
